One of the key strategic objectives that the Gomà‐Camps Group has for its subsidiary in Ejea de los Caballeros (Zaragoza), Gomà‐Camps Consumer, is to develop an integrated production plant to reinforce its position in the Consumer market in southern Europe. This goal was fulfilled following the inauguration of the new PM 7 tissue machine.

German supplier Voith manufactured the paper machine and its auxiliary parts. The new paper machine applies best available technologies (BAT) throughout the process, ensuring an environmentally sustainable installation, and bringing high value to the project while achieving the highest efficiency and productivity, with a method requiring a very short learning curve.

The new paper machine is situated among the current modern converting facilities at Gomà‐Camps Consumer, where three additional buildings have been built, for a total built‐up area of 12,000 m². The first building houses the raw material warehouse, the second the paper production installation and the third the jumbo reel storage warehouse to feed the current converting process.

The civil works for the expansion project began in November 2017 and the paper machine came online in March 2018, meeting the expected lead times for the project. Production at maximum efficiency will be 34,000 mtpy and this production rate is expected to be achieved by the end of 2018.

At a width of 2.8 m, the paper machine has a production speed of 2,000 m/min (the equivalent of producing 120 km of a 2.8 m wide sheet every hour) and has required an investment of 32.5 million euros.

In addition, for the GC Group, this new investment represents an increase of over 10 percent in its current staff, to a total of 117 direct employees at the Ejea facilities, and, on average, a further 20 subcontracted personnel in different specialized maintenance services.

With this new paper machine in Ejea, capacity at the Gomà‐Camps Group rises to some 90,000 mtpy of tissue, aiming to cover the growing tissue demand and reinforce its position in the market and particularly in the consumer sector.

Gomà‐Camps is a family‐owned group with a notable presence on the international market, which is celebrating its 260th anniversary in 2018. The Gomà‐Camps Group mission is to manufacture, transform and trade tissue paper products and other related solutions, providing value to its customers, shareholders, the staff at Gomà‐ Camps and the company’s other stakeholders. The company has facilities in Spain (La Riba, Vilaverd, Valls and Ejea de los Caballeros), France and Morocco and a workforce of some 500 employees.
