SCA in Mexico recently planted 2,000 trees in Guadalupe Park in the small town of Sahagun City near the SCA Sahagun Tissue plant and distribution center. The tree planting project is part of the SCA’s urban reforestation program in Mexico.

Participating in the tree planting were children from the community, government officials, and SCA employees. In all, 500 people worked for more than 3 hours to plant the trees and make the park and surrounding areas greener and more fun for play and recreation.

In addition to the 2,000 trees, SCA will continue with the reforestation work in the Izta-Popo National Park, where some 4,000 trees will be planted to help preserve this important forest area, foster water collection, and replenish the aquifers that supply water to Mexico City and the States of Mexico, Morelos, and Puebla.

So far SCA has, in collaboration with the non-profit Pronatura, planted 42,000 trees in Mexico since 2009.
