Employees from Georgia-Pacific’s consumer products operations in Crossett, Ark., and Muskogee, Okla., USA, loaded six tractor-trailers with bath tissue and paper towels destined for relief agencies working onsite in communities in Arkansas and Mississippi recently damaged by devastating tornadoes. Loads of Angel Soft® bath tissue and Sparkle® towels made in Crossett, and Preference® commercial towels made in Muskogee were moved into storm areas and are helping people there meet some of their basic needs.
The donated products were delivered through Convoy of Hope, a Springfield, Mo.-based international humanitarian relief agency. Convoy of Hope and Feed the Children, a relief agency based in Oklahoma City, regularly receive contributions of G-P’s products so they can respond quickly in disaster situations and get items to people who need them most.
"Responding to disasters would not be possible without the support of our generous partners such as Georgia-Pacific," said Rod Lanier, procurement director for Convoy of Hope. "Georgia-Pacific responds quickly to our requests for help in times of disaster and is always willing to go the extra mile to help."
