The TAPPI Standards regulations require public review of standards that are up for ballot. Send a message to standards@tappi.org if you want to request a copy of draft in ballot. Listed below are TAPPI Standards that have recently gone out for ballot to the corresponding Standard-Specific Interest Group (SSIG). The date in parentheses is the closing date for voting. T 656 cm-07 "Measuring, sampling, and analyzing white waters" (July 8, 2016) SSIG Members Needed
All Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIG) require a minimum of 10 members in order to ballot and vote on a draft of a method.
T 602 cm-06 "Analysis of sulfuric acid" is out of balance, and requires members that are not representing the 'Producer' interest group. T 438 cm-06 "Zinc and cadmium in paper" requires two more SSIG members for ballot. T 504 "Glue in paper (qualitative & quantitative determination)" requires two more members that are not representing the 'Producer' category. T 611 "Analysis of bleaching powder, calcium hypochlorite bleach liquor, and bleach sludge" requires one more member to ballot. Overdue Reports Distributed
The Power and Recovery Subcommittee have proposed two new TIPs:
Sodium Sulfate (Sodium Thiosulfate) and Reduction Efficiency Measurement of Green Liquor in Chemical Recovery Processes - this TIP will review available methods for measurement of sulfate and thiosulfate ions in green and white liquors for reduction efficiency calculation, addressing the latest measurement techniques and the potential economic returns of a good reduction efficiency in kraft mills
Recommended Practice for Refractory Selection and Installation in Recovery Boilers - this TIP will address practices to optimize refractory life including proper material selection, installation methods, curing time, and repair methods.
