So it is possible that there is a delay between the publication announcement and the posting online. If you are a subscriber to the online access to Standards and TIPs and you are in a hurry for new documents that have not yet been posted, you can send a request for TIPs to tip@tappi.org or for Standards to standards@tappi.org.

General Announcements

Standards Backlog

The TAPPI Standards team has started an intense and focused work to update the backlog on the review of Standards. Until September 18, 2020, the team is going to update all the late items that have any actions pending. The team members will be limiting the participation in other activities to get to focus on the backlog work. The U.S. TAG Administration to ISO/TC 6 has been temporarily transferred from Priscila Briggs to Shayne Nicholas until this focused work finishes. Final drafts of TIPs submitted to TAPPI, however, will continue to be published during this time.

STAR Member of the Month postponed

Due to the focused work on the Standards backlog, the section STAR Member of the Month, initially scheduled to begin this month, has been postponed to the September issue.

Standards Manager

Propose a New Standard or Technical Information Paper (TIP)

Getting started is easy. Do you have just a general idea for a Standard, or are you farther along and have a substantial draft? If you just have a general idea for a Standard or TIP, let TAPPI Standards Department know! TAPPI will review your idea and identify an appropriate committee or group to work on your suggestion. If you have an initial idea or if you are further along, send your idea or an initial draft to standards@tappi.org. From there, the TAPPI Standards Manager will guide you through the appropriate process to finalize and approve the new document.

Drafts are available for anyone to review, but to vote and comment you must be a member of the SSIG. Each Standard has its own SSIG – so you have to sign up for each Standard that you have an interest in.
