 Good news!

TAPPI Standards were approved as ANS

Be more efficient and keep up-to-date with TAPPI Standards & TIPs... Access them online either as a subscriber to either an Individual or Company License. See information on the Web for Individual Licenses and Company Licenses or call TAPPI at 1-800-332-8686 (US), 1-800-446-9431 (Canada), or +1-770-446-1400 (International).
New or Revised Standards, TIPs, and Useful Methods

Here is the list of TAPPI Standards recently approved as American National Standards

New American National Standards:
T 843 om-20 Fluted edge crush of corrugating medium (rigid support method)

Approved reaffirmation of current American National Standards:
T 455 sp-20 Identification of wire side of paper
T 845 om-20 Wet pin adhesion of corrugated board by selective separation
T 1205 sp-20 Dealing with suspect (outlying) test determinations

Approved revision of current American National Standards:
T 804 om-20 Compression test of fiberboard shipping containers

These announcements will be published in ANSI Standards Action on June 19, 2020. These Standards will be available on tappi.org by June 22, 2020.

Special note: The following Standards have been approved for publication at the Spring 2020 SARG meeting as reaffirmations. However, they represent revisions of the listed Standards. Due to this misclassification, the documents will be re-submitted to SARG for a new approval:

T 441 om-20 Water absorptiveness of sized (non-bibulous) paper, paperboard, and corrugated fiberboard (Cobb test)
T 515 om-20 Visual grading and color matching of paper

Special note: Documents appearing in the TAPPI online version of the Standards and TIPs are updated once a month (usually around the 15th). So it is possible that there is a delay between the publication announcement and the posting online. If you are a subscriber to the online access to Standards and TIPs and you are in a hurry for new documents that have not yet been posted, you can send a request for TIPs to tip@tappi.org or for Standards to standards@tappi.org.

General Announcements

STAR Member coming next month!

We are delighted to announce that we will be starting next month a new section in STAR Newsletter: STAR Member of the Month. In this section the outstanding volunteers who work on TAPPI Standards, TIPs or ISO TC 6 will have an opportunity to share their experience with the technical documents and with TAPPI. We hope that everyone enjoys getting to know these amazing members!

Correction

The title of the May 2020 issue of this newsletter should say "Attention Readers: TIPs guidelines published and Standards were approved at SARG!" instead of "Attention Readers: TIPs and Standards guidelines were approved at SARG!". Our apologies.

Standards Manager
