As Standards Manager, Ms. Lovett will be responsible for updating and maintaining the database on all TAPPI Standards, Technical Information Papers (TIPs), and Useful Methods (UMs). Additionally, she will manage processing proposals for new Standards and TIPs and preparing existing Standards for re-balloting. She will also support the development of new Standards and TIPS, manage activities for the Standards Oversight Committees, and present reports on Standards-related activities and projects to other TAPPI Committees.

Ms. Lovett most recently worked for Ajay-SQM Group in Powder Springs, GA, a leader in the field of iodine chemistry for over 45 years. She served as a Quality Control (QC) Analytical Chemist, supporting key QC and testing activities in an ISO 9001 certified laboratory environment, ensuring products were in compliance with company and industry-regulated Standards.

Prior to Ajay-SQM, Ms. Lovett worked for five years at Georgia-Pacific (GP Cellulose) serving in several laboratory roles, including Senior Laboratory Analyst and Quality Specialist. During her tenure at GP, she supported Technical Services, Product Development and Quality teams in understanding the characteristics of fluff pulp and the performance of fluff pulp-containing products. She also developed and executed operational processes to ensure product consistency, while also authoring and revising the Technical Services Department’s  Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). After a transfer to GP offices in Memphis, TN, Ms. Lovett focused on implementing and improving strategies that helped ensure compliance with established Standards and general best practices.

Upon announcing her selection, TAPPI President and CEO Larry N. Montague stated, “Brittaney brings a solid background in quality control and the hands-on use of standards. We are looking forward to her putting her expertise, talents and enthusiasm to work for our Standards Department and volunteers.”

A graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Ms. Lovett received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. “As an organization founded more than 100 years ago on the development and dissemination of Standards, TAPPI clearly aligns with my own goals of creating and adhering to the highest quality measurement criteria. I look forward to helping ensure the tradition continues for another hundred years,” she said.
