According to Wisconsin Rapid City Times, The Wisconsin Rapids Together Task Force met by conference call on Oct. 21 and learned that the Verso Corporation suspended their active search for a buyer for the Wisconsin Rapids mill. Verso closed the mill in July 2020, ceasing production and placing the mill up for sale.

Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS) (TSX: UFS) announced it has signed an agreement with Voith to provide equipment and technical services to convert the paper machine at its Kingsport, Tennessee, mill to produce recycled containerboard including high-performance lightweight packaging grades, as well as industry standard grades.

The owners of LignoTech South Africa, Borregaard and the Sappi Group, have decided to permanently close the lignin production facility and to terminate the cooperation agreement.

Greif, Inc. on Oct. 26 announced a price increase of 8% on all paper tubes, cores, and protective packaging products in the United States and Canada, effective starting with shipments on November 30, 2020.

Valmet will supply a complete tissue line, including full automation package, to WEPA’s mill in Bridgend, the United Kingdom. The investment is a strategic step for the company to strengthen its presence in the United Kingdom.

Kadant Fiberline (China) Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Kadant Inc. (NYSE:KAI), announced it successfully started up the OCC system at ShanYing International’s Jingzhou mill.

Toscotec will supply a second-generation TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer to the Colombian tissue manufacturer Cartones Y Papeles Del Risaralda. The new TT SYD will replace a cast iron Yankee on PM1 at its Risaralda mill in Western Colombia.

Metsä Group announced that the annual maintenance shutdown of its Rauma pulp mill (Finland) will take place during week 45. The production shutdown will begin department by department on Saturday 31 October 2020.

Delaware State News reports that U.S. Corrugated of Delaware, a company that produces corrugated cardboard boxes, announced that it has chosen Dover as its “location of preference” for a new 457,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that is expected to add 159 jobs to central Delaware.

Through a focus on circular design and performance, DS Smith, a sustainable packaging leader, has announced its innovative design methodology has removed 20,000 tons of raw material from the manufacturing process, despite increasing overall production. This has effectively taken the equivalent of 238 million boxes out of circulation over the past year.
