Austrian packaging manufacturer Rondo Ganahl AG has announced the sale of its corrugated board production site located in Istanbul, Turkey. The facility has been acquired by a local packaging producer, marking the company’s complete exit from the Turkish market.
Originally acquired in February 2013, the Istanbul plant—operated under the name MKB Oluklu Mukavva Kutu ve Ambalaj—has contributed positively to Rondo Ganahl’s overall performance over the years. However, the site has now reached near full capacity, and the investments needed to relocate or expand it in line with strategic objectives were deemed too significant.
The decision to divest follows a combination of adverse market conditions: persistent high inflation in Turkey, general economic uncertainty, and considerable pressures from local trade unions have created an environment no longer aligned with the group’s long-term plans.
Rondo Ganahl AG, based in Frastanz, Austria, focuses on the production of tailored corrugated outer packaging and molded fiber inner packaging, as well as the manufacturing of corrugated base paper and the recovery of recyclable materials.
