Coldwater Acquires EZ Eco Smart Cleaner Technology for Wires, Felts

David Withers, president, announced this week that his company, Coldwater, has acquired the EZ eco smart cleaner technology for wires and press felts. The EZ eco smart cleaner is a quantum improvement in wire and press felt cleaning compared with oscillating showers.

The EZ eco smart cleaner system uses traversing high pressure rotating heads that deliver 150 bar (2,200 psi) operating pressure, plus shear forces from rotation. The 120 mm (4.72 in.) diameter heads deliver twice as much cleaned area in the same amount of time as traditional oscillating showers.

This technology gets fabrics cleaner with far less water, reducing freshwater consumption by up to 90%. In addition, the EZ eco smart cleaner technology minimizes mist, and thereby delivers dramatic energy savings because all mist removal equipment can usually be eliminated. The typical ROI is less than one year.

More than 100 EZ eco smart cleaner units are now in service throughout Asia and Europe on some of the widest and fastest  paper machines in the world, delivering fewer sheet breaks and defects, better CD profile, and improved machine efficiency. The combination of the EZ eco smart cleaner with Coldwater’s PCA Dryer and Dryer Felt Passivation Technology now gives papermakers a complete solution for keeping machine clothing clean with two of the industry’s newest and most innovative and reliable technologies.

Coldwater is a global leader and innovator in paper machine consumables and engineered products that optimize paper machine performance and reliability. Product lines include dryer and felt passivation, machine clothing cleaning systems, suction roll sealing components, doctor blades, Lantier doctoring equipment, Wilbanks ceramics, premium UHMW drainage elements, edge control systems, headbox parts and services, and combinations of the above in complete Consumables Optimization Management Programs.

In addition to its headquarters in Atlanta, Coldwater also has manufacturing facilities in Appletion, Wis., and Karlstad, Sweden, and sales offices in Spain and Thailand.
