In Memoriam: TAPPI Member and Fellow, Joseph A. Barsin

We mourn the loss of Joseph Barsin, TAPPI Fellow, an accomplished TAPPI Member since 1985, who passed away in April 2025.

Barsin was an expert in the areas of environmentally improving combustion and substitution of fuels. A very active TAPPI member and volunteer, he served on several committees within TAPPI’s Engineering Division where he also served as Chair. Barsin was elected as a TAPPI Fellow in 2008 for his meritorious service to the association and the industry. In 2005, he was awarded TAPPI’s Engineering Division Technical Award & Beloit Prize, recognizing outstanding accomplishments and contributions that have advanced the industry's technology.

His contributions to TAPPI and the industry will be celebrated for years to come. TAPPI sends condolences to his family and friends.
