You are invited to join your industry peers in participating in the highly rated Hands-On Workshop for Pulp and Paper Basics taking place June 9-13, 2025, on the North Carolina State University campus in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of Pulping, Bleaching, Chemical Recovery, Recycling, Papermaking and Converting operations. The course schedule features presentations and practical exercises on the pilot paper machine to reinforce learning outcomes.

This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of pulping, bleaching, chemical recovery, recycling, papermaking and converting operations. Topics covered include wood structure and chemistry, chemical and mechanical pulping operations, stock preparation, as well as the importance of chemical recovery and environmental regulations in pulp mills.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the structure, chemistry and chip operation of wood;
  • Describe how the different processes affect paper properties;
  • Identify the major grades and properties of paper;
  • Discuss pulp mill chemical recovery, waste treatment and regulation; and
  • Explain wet end and dry end operations, converting, recycling, and more.
