In Memoriam: TAPPI Member and Fellow, Dr. Antti Arjas

We mourn the loss of Dr. Antti Arjas, an accomplished TAPPI Member since 1985, who passed away March 2025. Dr. Arjas served on TAPPI’s Board of Directors and was elected as a TAPPI Fellow in 1995 for his meritorious service to the association and the industry. He was Member Emeritus of TAPPI’s International Research Management Committee and a Research Management speaker.

Arjas was CEO of the Finnish Pulp and Paper Research Institute, KCL, from 1993 – 2003. He served as chairman of the board of the Finnish Paper Engineers’ Association, PI (now the Forest Products Engineers’ Association), achieving all the highest recognition awards of the association, including the Order of the White Rose of Finland, First Class Knight’s Cross in 1996.

His contributions to TAPPI and the industry will be celebrated for years to come. TAPPI sends condolences to his family and friends.
