Hands Up for UW- Stevens Point Paper Science & Chemical Engineering’s (PS&ChE) Hands-On Short Courses
TAPPI and the Paper Science & Chemical Engineering (PS&ChE) Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) are bringing you a series of five laboratory-focused short courses throughout 2024. These two-day courses provide a unique learning experience on paper machine operations, additives of paper, formation of paper, and coatings for the paper industry through carefully planned exercises that allow you to observe and understand the various topics. Each course is limited to 16 participants, which gives you ample opportunity for questions, discussion, and hands-on opportunities. These courses are particularly appropriate for newcomers, machine operators, operating managers, financial managers, sales representatives, maintenance workers, training, and development staff. Date: March 7-8, 2024 This introductory class features morning classroom sessions followed by afternoon sessions of guided exercises operating the UW-Stevens Point Fourdrinier pilot paper machine. Topics covered in this course include pulp and papermaking operations, with more information about papermaking processes and equipment. Learning outcomes for this course include:
Register today for the Hands-On Papermaking Course Advanced Papermaking: Additives This course provides an overview of common paper making additives used in the industry today. You will participate in discussions focused on where additives are introduced into the paper making process, potential interactions with both equipment and other additives and the relationship between additives and enhanced performance of paper. This course features hands-on exercises on the UW-Stevens Point pilot paper machine where attendees will produce paper with different additives. Learning outcomes for this course include:
