Every January, TAPPI-PIMA Student Summit brings together hundreds of pulp and paper students for a weekend of networking, educating, and interviewing. Student Summit offers students direct interaction with their peers, industry leaders, and companies that are seeking qualified employees, interns, or co-ops.
Student Summit goes beyond the typical career fair experience. It’s our industry’s only event that assembles students from diverse engineering programs to reinforce their interest in a career in the pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, and converting industries. In addition to being able to conduct on-site interviews, sponsoring companies have plenty of opportunities to interact with students and gain brand recognition.
This year’s event drew more than 200 students from 15 universities. “Planning this year’s event was challenging and exciting,” explained Michael Reuss, chemical engineering major at Auburn University and Student Chair for the 2025 Student Summit. He was one of 10 student chapter presidents involved on this year’s planning committee. “There were so many students who had a hand in the programming and team building experiences for this two-day event.

For the first time ever, all on-site Student Summit moderator roles were filled by student participants, from the Day 1 welcome to the various panel discussions to the closing celebratory gala. As one sponsor remarked, “I’m so confident about the future of the pulp and paper industry based on the talent in this room.”
