In Memoriam: TAPPI Member and Fellow, Dr. Torbjorn Helle

We mourn the loss of Dr. Torbjorn Helle, who was an accomplished TAPPI Member from 1970 – 2022 and inducted into the 2000 TAPPI Fellow class, passed away in Winter 2022. Dr. Helle served on TAPPI’s Board of Directors and was elected as a TAPPI Fellow for his meritorious service to the association and the industry.
A very active member and volunteer, Helle also served on an Independent Technical Committee, the Paper Physics Committee, and authored the Fiber Web Support of the Forming Wire, which ran in TAPPI Journal in 1988. Dr. Helle also co-authored nearly 10 papers and articles during his time at TAPPI.
His contributions to TAPPI and the industry will be celebrated for years to come. TAPPI sends condolences to his family and friends.
