Nonwovens are unique, high-tech, engineered fabrics made from fibers, and used across a wide range of applications and products. Today, innovations in nonwoven fabrics are growing as rapidly as the demand for them, with almost unlimited possibilities for a wide variety of industries.

TAPPI’s Nonwovens, Engineers and Technologists (NET) Division is a forum for technical professionals to assess and promote the broad nonwovens industry by offering participants the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise in support of the industry. To help ensure the Division embraces the expanding scope of this diverse field, NET announced the formation of two new committees, Sustainability, Circularity and Recyclability (SCR), and Hygiene and Medical Markets.  These two new groups join three existing Committees:  Raw Material and Equipment; Fiberglass Mat; and the NET Division Steering Committee. Interested professionals are invited to join any, or all, that focus on their areas of expertise and interests:

  • Sustainability, Circularity and Recyclability (SCR)
Providing a platform for experts and stakeholders to collaborate and exchange knowledge on pressing environmental issues, this committee generates innovative solutions, educates, and promotes sustainable practices leading to a more environmentally conscious and resource-efficient society. The committee's efforts will help raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and also serve as a valuable source of information, disseminating best practices and research findings to drive meaningful change at individual, community, and industry levels.

  • Hygiene and Medical Markets
This committee serves as a platform for experts and professionals to collaborate and address critical issues related to personal protective equipment (PPE), wipes, sanitation, safety, and advancements in the field. The committee will facilitate the dissemination of best practices, successes, and lessons learned, leading to improved product quality, enhanced safety standards, and increased efficiency in hygiene and medical nonwovens production.

  • Raw Material and Equipment Committee
Committee members will discuss technology, processes, and success stories in the Raw Material and Equipment field. Meeting are held on a monthly basis in a town hall format with lively Q&A.

  • Nonwovens Division Steering Committee
This committee handles the technical planning for all meetings, webinars and symposia. Professionals interested in being front and center for the planning of events, reviewing content and hosting educational technology forums are encouraged to join this committee.

  • Fiberglass Mat Committee
This committee consists of manufacturers and suppliers who assist in the development of conferences. The committee holds an annual fall meeting focused on education and networking and meets once a month via teleconference.
