In addition to publishing the industry’s latest research, TAPPI Journal’s (TJ) Editorial Board also considers in-depth technical reviews through its peer reviewed process.

“While innovation and R&D are crucial to the industry’s future, so is a comprehensive understanding of how we got here,” said Doug Coffin, TJ Editor-in-Chief. “Well-done technical reviews present critical insights that come from integrated analysis of previous literature and help researchers quickly bridge the knowledge gap, therefore speeding up the development process.”

TAPPI Journal is seeking comprehensive technical reviews like “Review of coating cracking and barrier integrity on paperboard substrates” which appeared in the November 2022 issue. Authored by Joel C. Panek and Peter W. Hart, this review was named as one of the TAPPI Journal Best Research Papers of the Year and winner of the Honghi Tran Prize by the TJ Editorial Board.

For nearly 70 years, TJ’s distinguished editorial board of academic and industry experts have maintained a stringent peer-review process, working cohesively to disseminate scientific and engineering information to advance the industry.

TAPPI Journal is 100% Open Access (OA), giving everyone in the industry immediate, free access to TJ articles. This publishing model quickly circulates the latest scientific and engineering knowledge to advance the forest products and related industries. Improved visibility of science promotes more citations for authors, as well as a journal’s reputation. The OA format also assists researchers in meeting funding and grant application requirements. Copyright remains with the author, and unlike other technical journals, TJ does not require a publication fee.

Prospective reviewers, authors from academic and research institutions, as well as speakers who present scientific papers at TAPPI conferences, are encouraged to submit their research or technical reviews for peer review and consideration for publication in TJ.

As an added bonus, your paper or technical review could be named the TAPPI Journal Best Research Paper of the Year AND receive the $2,000 Honghi Tran TAPPI Journal Best Research Paper Prize presented at TAPPICon.
