Sustainable packaging solutions provider DS Smith has launched a new sustainable shelf-ready packaging solution, known as DD Wrap. The new solution has been created to promote the company’s circular economy efforts by minimising waste and saving resources at the core of the design.

This circular economy-ready solution will further help to boost supply chain efficiency and improve the overall in-store shopping experience of the consumers.
DS Smith said that the new packaging can be customised as per the requirements of different industries and can be used for various products.

DD Wrap is made using a single piece of cardboard, without perforating the front side of the pack.

It will allow the company to offer enhanced brand visibility and appeal to attract customers at the point of display.

Furthermore, the company claimed that the easy-to-open design of the new packaging will increase product accessibility. It will help in minimising the requirement of sharp tools to open the box.

DS Smith Italy sales, marketing and innovation director Francesco Barsanti said: “As leaders in the packaging industry, we know that innovation and design are essential to creating sustainable and efficient solutions that meet the needs of our customers and society.”

According to DS Smith, the first such DD Wrap packaging solution was introduced by the company for biscuits; however, the solution can be used for other products.

In terms of this latest, improved packaging solution, the designers have reduced the overall resources and material used for manufacturing it while also minimising the size of the new boxes to ensure that there is no empty space left.
