Join us for the Nanotechnology Student Committee Coffee Break Virtual Event

TAPPI’s Nano Student Committee is organizing a free and interactive coffee break session with two professional speakers. You will hear from Valentyn Frechka, co-founder and CEO of RELEAF PAPER and Dr. Haishu Du, Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Valentyn Frechka will present his career path in the field of biosourced nanotechnologies and will give insight into his experience gained from creating a start-up company and share advice on how others can do the same. Dr. Haishu Du will present an overview of his work in the field of biosourced nanotechnologies and focus his presentation on his academic background and post-doctorate position.

The Nanotechnology Student Committee Coffee Break webinar on Wednesday, April 19 from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM will be moderated by the TAPPI Nano Student Committee and will open the session to questions and further discussion with the audience.

Meet the Presenters: Valentyn Frechka and Dr. Haishu Du

Valentyn Frechka is co-founder and CEO of RELEAF PAPER France SAS, a company that specializes in the production of pulp, paper and packaging from fallen leaves and agricultural wastes. The company also researches plant-based fibrous biopolymers.

Frechka received his secondary education at Sokyrnytska Secondary School where he graduated with honors from the External Independent Assessment and the State Final Attestation in 2018. He also attended the Educational and Research Center at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and Bioengineering.

 

Dr. Haishu Du, Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin Madison, completed his doctorate at Auburn University with a focus on Polymer and Fiber Engineering. He was awarded the Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2022 and the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award in 2021.

Haishu Du has conducted research on lignocellulose fractionation and valorization, cellulose nanomaterials and cellulose nanopaper, biomass based multifunctional nanocomposites and conductive nanomaterials.
