On November 5-8, 2023, bioenergy and bioproducts professionals and academics from around the world will gather in Atlanta, GA to attend TAPPI’s International Bioenergy and Bioproducts Conference (IBBC). IBBC is considered the premier technical event for individuals dedicated to advancing biorefineries in the forest products industry

The Conference Planning Committee has issued a Call for Presentations and you are invited to be part of this year’s technical program by sharing your newest technical findings, case study reports, or assessments.  To be considered as a speaker, you must submit your abstract by March 17, 2023.

IBBC focuses on new technologies using renewable materials from biomass to produce chemicals, energy and fuel to support the growing bioeconomy. Abstract submissions on the following topics are desired but other topics will also be considered:

  • Supporting the Sustainable Bioeconomy
    • Leveraging Pulp Mill Assets
    • Biomass Utilization and Sustainable Assessments
  • Biomass Processing and Conversion Pathways
    • Innovative Technologies to Transform Biomass
  • Innovative Bioproducts and Biopolymers from Wood & Nonwood Biomass
    • Lignin Recovery and New Products
    • Bio-based Polymers, Chemicals and Products

Abstracts should be uploaded to TAPPI’s Speaker Management System by March 17, 2023. Also, please note that IBBC does not require a formal paper, only a PowerPoint Presentation.

Student Poster Session and Competition
Students are encouraged to submit an abstract for the Student Poster Session and Competition. This is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable industry input on their work, plus a chance to win some cash. Students must submit their poster abstract by August 21, 2023 to be considered.

Students will also be part of the Rapid Fire Showcase where presenters get 5 minutes to present 5 slides summarizing the research that they are working on. Conference attendees interested in subjects presented during the rapid-fire oral session can then visit the accompanying poster and have a more in-depth discussion during the student poster session and competition. This format offers greater exposure to presenters, as well as gives attendees a snapshot into the wide variety of research being conducted in the biorefinery arena.

PEERS
IBBC is co-located with TAPPI’s Pulping, Engineering, Environmental, Recycling and Sustainability (PEERS) Conference. PEERS technical program focuses on new methods and best practices to help mills optimize operations and reach sustainability goals. Industry professionals interested in speaking at the Conference should submit an abstract by March 17, 2023.
