Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The paper sector in France is gradually growing this year, however will probably unlikely to exceed the results of 2021.

In 2021, in France, the production of paper and cardboard increased by 7%, reaching 7.4 million tonnes, in line with the country's economic recovery. The turnover of the sector amounted to 5.9 billion euros. That compensated the 6,1% decline in 2020. Between 2019 and 2021, production thus remains stable with +0.4%. France manufactures 8% of the world's paper and cardboard, in 5th position behind Germany, Sweden, Italy and Finland.

As in other EU states, this year the French paper industry has faced with a significant rise of costs, which became mainly due to the growth of prices of paper pulp, deterioration of supplies of wood and paper and cardboard for recycling.

However there are some hopes of stabilization of situation already in the first half of 2021.
