Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. has announced a price increase for its Liquid-Packaging Carton in Japan. Prices will increase 18% or more for shipments on and after the 1st of April, 2023.

In a press release, Nippon Paper said, "The increase is necessitated by the rapid decline in the exchange rate in addition to rising costs for various materials and energy globally since the previous price hike in July 2022. In particular, tight wood fiber supply and record high pulp prices due to the international situation have made business conditions much more challenging.

"Although the Company have already secured the resources needed to ensure a sustainable supply, it is becoming extremely difficult to absorb these costs through its independent efforts alone. Consequently, it has recently concluded that it has no alternative but to revise its prices."
