Incorporation of Post-Consumer Pizza Boxes in the Recovered Fiber Stream: Impacts of Grease on Finished Quality
Friday, September 9, 2022
10:00am to 12:00pm EDT
Grease and cheese contamination of used pizza boxes has led to misunderstanding and controversy about the recyclability of pizza boxes. Some collection facilities accept pizza boxes while others do not.
Expert Ashok Ghosh, Director, Fiber Science and Innovation for WestRock, will lead this live online event. He, along with Peter W. Hart, Adel Panek, Tran Nguyen and Meredith Dooley authored a TAPPI Journal article on this topic (March 2021) to determine if typical grease or cheese contamination levels associated with pizza boxes impact finished product quality.
Read the entire article here, then join in on TAPPI Connect live on September 9 as Ghosh answers questions on the topic.
To attend, log in at 10:00am (or any time before it ends at noon) on Friday, September 9.
During this live event, you can post your questions on the Open Forum feed. Ghosh will respond as quickly as possible. If he does not have an opportunity to respond to your question during the event, he will address the question within the next week. This live session will also be archived here and accessible after the event.
