TAPPI Industry Career Center: New-Indy Seeks a Maintenance & Engineering Manager

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for scope, timeliness, cost control and budget management of all projects assigned.
  • Enforce safety and environmental policies and regulations
  • Lead maintenance productivity improvements
  • Set maintenance priorities
  • Manage the onsite maintenance organization
  • Enforce safety and environmental policies and regulations
  • Manage maintenance & engineering staff
  • Set and manage maintenance budget and spending
  • Lead maintenance reliability improvements
  • Develop and manage maintenance and capital budgets
  • Develop strategic maintenance & capital 5yr plans
  • Manage capital projects for value and long-term reliability
  • Manages the mill drawing system and the addition of assets in Maximo
  • Develop designs and conduct engineering for complex projects.
  • Coordination with contracted engineers and construction supervisors and crews.
  • Works independently on highly complex assignments or forms project teams as needed depending on the project scope.
  • Executes major repairs and upgrades for mill infrastructure, air, water, gas, chemical and fire systems.
  • Assist Maintenance department on complex or difficult repairs requiring Engineering or design support.
  • Member of the Operations/BOD call team.
  • Provide Engineering support for all Mill Departments to optimize performance, increase production efficiency, improve product quality, improve environmental compliance margins, and increase process and equipment reliability.
  • Use Engineering skills to identify root causes of failures (RCFA) and design and implement solutions, including process design changes.
  • Coordinate efforts with vendors to implement new technologies, reliability improvements, production optimization and equipment operation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using PI and PARCView
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/ Experience/ Skills:

  1. Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  2. 10+ years related experience in heavy manufacturing (paper industry preferred)
  3. Previous management experience
  4. Ability to develop strong relationships with employees and management team.
  5.  Individual that will take full ownership of assigned work and areas of responsibility.
