SAEL Rebuilt the Sheeter at Pirinoli Papermill: Supplies and Start Up of the New Electrical Drive and Automation

Sael successfully restarted the sheeter at Pirinoli papermill. Due to unavailability of the obsolete electrical components, a revamping was mandatory to resolve efficiency and other technical issues. Besides the long-term availability of the spare parts, this retrofit offers a powerful diagnostic tool, very helpful and easy to manage for the machine operators. Thanks to the screenplay messages and the open-source software project, the people are fully supported. With a more user-friendly approach, all the automatization functions have been optimized offering an easier and comfortable use of the tools, as much as the flexibility for further implementations and upgrades. The relevant part of this revamping can be summarized as following:

– Replacement of the entire automation systems – owned by PASABAN: PLC-HW-Encoders-Motors-Drives and all the obsolete components (originally available via Pasaban, only).
– New machine management by a standard S7 1500 PLC and integration of all the technological functions – the heart of the sheeter – vs. the old BLACK BOX exclusively controlled by Pasaban.
– Phoenix I/O remote modules replacement (obsolete) with new standard ET200SP Plc.
– Replacement of the supervisor system using Siemens Touch-screen operator panels, vs. the obsolete PC and operator panels managed by Pasaban, only.
– A new machine drive automation fully integrated with the Paper Mill’s network, fulfilling the 4.0 Industry rules.
– Supply of SAEL Inverters, supply and replacement of the A.C. motors for the new sheeter drive, originally in D.C. technology.

The job was done in twenty days: from the switch off to the machine restart. The management – Silvano Carletto, applauds the high efficiency rate achieved, the quality and the professionality of the Sael team.
