The Plant Manager is responsible for all facets of the operation including production, maintenance, warehouse, shipping, receiving, engineering, environmental compliance, human resources, quality, purchasing, WCM, production planning, security, and general office functions. This position is responsible to assure that the plant is efficient, profitable, and produces quality products now and in meeting future customer needs. The position is also responsible for the preparation of the plant budgets, long range planning, and for establishing and maintaining a safe, clean facility with positive employee relationships.

The incumbent provides overall strategy and programs for manufacturing capacity, operational support for existing products and for new processes and systems for Glass Mat products, engineering, and capital allocation. This position is responsible for establishing standard cost improvement for technical variances, plant expenses, assets utilization, etc., in an effort to contribute and achieve a quality consistent product while maximizing the plant overall efficiencies.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Represent the company with customers, suppliers, and others in the business/public community to enhance the company's position and broaden its scope of operations
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports and is familiar with Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives.
  • Through effective direction, counselling and training, develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, development, compensation, and motivation of all employees. Develop managerial, supervisory and other talents necessary to achieve short and long-range objectives.
  • The incumbent serves on committees, i.e. WCM, plant safety, quality, labor mgmt. continuous improvement, LiveWell, Recognition.
  • Assure a suitable safety program is in place which safeguards employees while at work. Assure adherence to governmental and corporate policies with specific focus on Local, State and Federal environmental and equal opportunity regulations.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of progressive manufacturing management experience in a union environment preferred or a combination of education and experience.
  • Financial performance of the business unit with strong emphasis on earnings, cash flow, and return on investment. Performance to Corporate goals and to quarterly/annual estimates is used as a measurement.
  • Manufacturing: Material utilization, productivity, overhead management, production and product standard cost, customer service and on-time delivery and site safety, health and environmental compliance.
  • Finance: Income statements, Balance sheet, Estimates/budget, Performance to Corporate and Legal requirements.
  • Human Resources: Salary/Benefits, Facility policies and Employee appraisal systems and labor relations.
  • Quality: Quality policy, Continuous improvement programs, ISO Program Certification and adherence to the product design pages.
  • Development and performance of the strategic plan to support both the internal and external customers
