Total U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Shipments Decreased One Percent in July 2021

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released its July 2021 Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report. According to the report, total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in July decreased one percent compared to July 2020. They were up two percent when compared to the same seven months of 2020.

• The operating rate was 84.2 percent, down 1.5 points from July 2020 and up 4.0 points year-to-date.
• Mill inventories at the end of July increased 8,000 short tons from the previous month and were essentially flat (+672 short tons) compared to July 2020.
