ProJet, Meerssen, Netherlands have successfully started up 2 Tail Cutters with Radial Saw at Chelny Paper in Naberevny, Tatarstan, Russia. Despite of all COVID regulations and travel restrictions, ProJet fully supported the customer and a joint successful commissioning of the systems was achieved.

Mr. Ilya Korotkov (Chelny Paper mill) stated: “The ProJet equipment is running perfectly and the cooperation with the ProJet start-up personnel was very smooth”.
After careful installation of the Tail Cutters, detailed task planning for all teams involved, numerous checks on all safety aspects, ProJet’s expertise helped to complete the commissioning in just a couple of hours. The engineers conducted a number of installations, hardware and I/O checks, after which start-up was just “plug and play”, thanks to the user-friendly ProJet system, according to all teams involved.

The ProJet Radial Saw Tail Cutters are designed to be highly reliable and the Tail Width is adjustable from 20-300mm (0.8-12 in.) The ProJet Tail Cutters were part of a complete rebuild of the Dryer Section that Chelny is doing to improve speed and paper quality. The Tail Cutters generate a 100% reliable clean cut, guaranteeing maximum reliability of Tail Threading and therefore reliability of the machine. One Tail Cutter was installed before the Size Press and the second before the reel at the end of the machine. The radial saws are made of hardened steel, with typical sizes between 200-400mm. All customers that have these Tail Cutters installed, immediately notice the reduction in dirt and dust build up in the cutting area, which A. Leads to a cleaner and healthier working environment for operators and B. Maximizes reliability of the Tail Cutting and Tail Threading procedure on a paper machine. No vacuum or dust bag are required so maintenance is minimized and fire hazards are eliminated.
