Metsä Fibre to Hike NBSK Prices for May

The first announcements of price increases for northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp for May have been issued.
According to Euwid, Metsä Fibre has informed its European customers of a new increase of US$80 to a list price of US$1,300/t.
Metsä Fibre states that demand in Europe for most paper grades remains very good and pulp supply is rather tight. In addition, the price delta to other regions such as China, the Middle East and North America was still too large.
Suzano had also announced an increase of hardwood pulp last week. The company aims to hike pulp prices in Europe by US$80 for deliveries in May.
