Progroup announced that construction is starting for its "PW14" corrugated sheetfeeder facility located at the company's paper mill in Stryków, Poland. Progroup is investing about 72 million euros in the facility which will be powered by a combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) plant.

The new sheetfeeder plant is designed to produce up to 200,000 metric tons of corrugated board sheets per year with start-up expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.

"With this new plant, Progroup will not only boost Stryków as a location, but at the same time it will expand its position in the market in Central and Eastern Europe," said Jürgen Heindl, Chief Executive Officer of Progroup. "We are consistently following our growth strategy and this will allow us to continue to offer our customers the high reliability of supply and impressive quality of product that they are used to."

Progroup said PW14 will manufacture virtually all common grades of corrugated board. The production speed will be 400 m/min and the working width 3.35 meters. The production line is designed to produce single-wall and double-wall Next Board® corrugated boardsheets with B, C and E flutes and smaller grammages in all combinations.

Progroup noted that its long-term development plans span ten-year time periods, and the aim for the current period (2015-2025) is to double the size of the company. This involves the construction of a total of 8 corrugated sheetfeeder plants, a CHP power plant and the recent start-up of PM3 — a new machine at its Sandersdorf-Brehna paper mill in Germany with the capacity to produce 750,000 metric tons per year of recycled containerboard.

Currently, PM3 is in the run-up stage of production. When PM3 reaches its designed capacity, Progroup's total containerboard production will increase from 1.1 million metric tons to a total of around 1.85 million metric tons per year.
