The 2020 International Conference on Nanotechnology for Renewable Nanomaterials is looking for your latest technical developments and applications of renewable nanomaterials.

TAPPI Nano brings together the international nanomaterials community to discuss the latest advances in production and use of cellulose nanomaterials in a variety of industries. Network with some of the brightest international minds in nanotechnology and gain insights into the latest advancements in research and actual application in today’s newest products.

This year’s special topics include:

  • Novel solutions for packaging and beyond (replacement of single-use plastics)
  • Consideration for end-of-life; LCA, recycling, biodegradation

Other topics that will be considered for presentation include:

  • Characterization and Metrology from the Lab to Production Plant
  • Mediated Assembly
  • Composite Processing and Testing
  • Paper and Packaging
  • Functional Materials and Soft Matter
  • Biomedical Applications
  • Nanocellulose Electronics, Photonics and Energy Technologies
  • Renewable Nanomaterials Production
  • Product Stewardship and Safety

Student oral presentations and posters are also welcome.

All submissions are peer reviewed by the conference Co-chairs and Nano Division Research Subcommittees. This year’s conference co-chairs are:

  • Dr. Orlando Rojas, Aalto University, Finland
  • Dr. Heli Kangas, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., Finland
  • Dr. Gilberto Siqueira, EMPA, Switzerland

TAPPI Nano is the only international conference dedicated specifically to the production and use of renewable cellulose nanomaterials. There are global challenges with over-reliance on fossil reserves, resource insufficiency, and climate change, and there is therefore an urgent need to transform the existing materials paradigm.

This year’s Finnish location, a center for nanotechnology research, brings additional opportunities to meet, network with and learn from leading researchers, scientists and business professionals from that region. Finland has a unique focus on paper, paperboard, cellulosic pulp and fibers. Forests cover 75% of Finland’s land area, and the forest industry accounts for over 20% of export revenue.

The paper and pulping industry is always changing, and it is critical for industry professional to stay abreast of modern sustainable processes. Consider presenting your research today.
