MeadWestvaco, Richmond, Va., USA, this week announced the appointment of Naveen Ganzu as managing director for the company’s operations in India. Ganzu will be responsible for leading MWV’s paperboard and industrial packaging business in India, and will also work closely with the company’s global consumer packaging businesses to expand growth in India. He will report directly to EVP Robert Feeser.

"Naveen combines global experience in manufacturing with in depth knowledge of the Indian market," said Feeser. "He has managed startups and rapid growth phases of various businesses, establishing himself as an action- and result-oriented leader. His leadership will help drive our next stage of growth in India and underlines our commitment to the region."

Ganzu has three decades of experience in the industry, including president of Motherson Sumi Systems and setting up Weir India as managing director and country head. He strategically led Weir to a leadership position in the Indian market, using a mix of organic and inorganic growth drivers.

Speaking on his appointment, Ganzu stated that "I am excited about the opportunity and am impressed by the commitment shown by MWV to support, strengthen, and grow in the Indian market. My immediate focus will be to reinforce the company’s presence in India and take the business toward leadership in its end markets. Given the current business-friendly environment and positive economic fundamentals in India, my long-term outlook will be to ensure that MWV India becomes a hub for the global packaging industry."
