New Appvion Phenol-Free Receipt Paper Made with Vitamin C

In response to customer demand for a phenol-free receipt paper that was both healthy for shoppers and cashiers and good for the environment, Appvion Inc, Appleton, Wis., USA, has developed Alpha Free, a new and "natural choice" in receipt paper. The first receipt paper of its kind, Alpha Free includes a vitamin C formulation in place of BPA, BPS, or urea-based compounds.

Appvion notes that that the use of a vitamin C formulation in Alpha Free means that the same nutrient that helps us fight colds now offers peace of mind at checkout. As is noticeable in the photo, the receipt is yellow in color. Using vitamin C in the formulation produces the natural yellow tint. The color, combined with the natural formulation and technology, set Alpha Free apart from traditional store receipts, Appvion points out.
