Cartiera dell’Adda Awards PM 1 Board Machine Upgrade to PMT Italia

Cartiera dell’Adda, Italy, has awarded an upgrade of its PM 1 to PMT Italia, Italy. The goal of the upgrade is to increase production and improve paper sheet strength properties. PM 1 produces multilayer board in the grammage range of 180 to 1,000 gsm at a maximum operating speed of 450 m/min., with a variable sheet trim at the reel of 4,000 to 4,500 mm.

The upgrade of the machine, scheduled for this summer, will consist of a new press section framework suitable for repositioning of the existing jumbo press as well as for the installation of a shoe press with its deflection controlled counter roll. An upgrade of the machine drive system and a rearrangement of the transfer fabric run into the dryer section will complete the scope of work.
