Klabin, the largest integrated pulp and paper producer in Brazil, has contracted Andritz, Graz, Austria, to supply major production equipment for its new pulp mill in Ortigueira, Paraná, Brazil. Startup is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016. Comparably structured orders typically represent a value approaching EUR 300 million, according to Andritz.

The scope of supply for Andritz covers the woodyard, complete fiberline (for softwood and hardwood), and the white liquor plant. The pulp mill will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons (1.1 million metric of short fiber and 400,000 metric tons of long fiber).

Klabin was founded in 1899 and operates 16 mills (15 in Brazil and one in Argentina), targeting markets such as packaging paper and board, corrugated packaging, and industrial bags producers. The new pulp project in Brazil is the largest investment in Klabin’s history and will double the company’s production capacity.
