Mitsubishi HiTec Paper, Bielefeld, Germany, reports that it is investing almost EUR 5 million in technical production equipment and the optimization of energy processes. At the same time, personnel numbers have been increased both in sales and in R&D. Thus, the producer of coated specialty papers says it is continuing along its path of optimization of existing product lines, focusing on innovative new products and the resulting closeness to its markets.

The investment of EUR 3.2 million in technical production equipment is aimed at optimizing the coating machines in Bielefeld. The objectives of this investment are both improvements in quality and productivity as well as more flexibility in utilization of the advanced coating systems for several product ranges.

The optimization of energy processes is being achieved by investing a total of EUR 1.6 million in new cooling systems. Investments in both locations in Bielefeld and Flensburg allow more energy efficient use of process cooling, thus supporting the company's goal of protecting the environment.

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe is a German subsidiary of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Ltd., Japan, a global producer of specialty paper. The roughly 700 employees at Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe produce high-quality thermal papers (thermoscript), digital imaging papers (jetscript), carbonless papers (giroform), and label papers (supercote) at two tradition-rich locations in Bielefeld and Flensburg.
