SCG Paper, Bangkok, Thailand, has ordered two large automation packages from Metso, Finland, to be installed on Siam Kraft PM 16 – a new OptiConcept M machine from Metso at the Ban Pong mill in Ratchaburi, Thailand, and for the upgrade of TUPI PM 9 at the Wangsala mill in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. The goal of the automation packages is to increase production capacity and modernize the existing control systems.

Both automation packages include Metso's automation system with continuous condition monitoring of field instruments, quality control systems, and Neles® and Jamesbury® valves for on-off and control applications. All valves are equipped with pneumatic cylinder actuators and intelligent positioners or limit switches. The upgrade delivery for TUPI PM 9 at the Wangsala mill also includes consistency measurement.

The scalable Metso DNA automation system adapts to diverse industry needs, from single machine controls to entire plant-wide automation and information management systems. It enables plants to integrate all operations into a single plant-wide or even corporate-wide entity, enabling easy access to information for comparing and combining process data. Operators only need to know one system, and customers also benefit from having a single source for global system support, updates, and spare parts.
