Calling all Young Professionals (YPs), We Can't Unite the Industry Without You

TAPPI's Paper & Board Division is pairing with the Young Professionals Division to encourage those interested in supporting technical content as a session co-chair at TAPPICon, next April in Columbus, OH. As session chair, you will be responsible for overseeing the details of a group of 3-4 presentations set to be given at TAPPICon during a specific time. You will communicate with your speakers, as you move through the planning process of reviewing their abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations for compliance with TAPPI’s published guidelines. You will also help ensure that these materials are submitted to TAPPI by the deadlines required.

 

During TAPPICon, you will check in with your speakers during the “Speaker Breakfast” the morning of the session, and then also introduce them during the session itself.  Afterwards, you will field questions from the attendees.  An experienced co-chair will support and mentor you through this process.

 

Time required will be a maximum of one hour per week, as well as attendance at TAPPICon for your session. Discounted registration is available for session chairs. This is a great way to expand your technical knowledge, meet new people, and delve into a side of TAPPI that you’ve likely never seen before.  If you’re looking at becoming more involved in TAPPI and assisting with the inner workings of what makes this organization function, this is an excellent first step with a low time commitment and maximum return on your time invested.
