Most web inspection systems use light transmitted through the sheet and cannot be used to ship-by-gauge according to TAPPI and ISO standard test methods which require that dirt specks be measured with reflected light to report TAPPI (EBA) dirt results.
Consequently, mills often must continue laboratory measurements which have poor precision (particularly for relatively clean sheets) and are very time consuming.
On-machine Dirt In-speck-tor (ODI) is the solution to accurate on-machine dirt measurement.
It meets the requirement of the laboratory test methods TAPPI Standard T563 and ISO-5350-4.
A dedicated ODI, installed on-machine will complement the existing web inspection system and provide the necessary measurement results that will allow your mill to ship-by-gauge. Thereby reducing the risk of shipping product that will lead to customer complaints.
