Valmet Welcomes Finland Honorary Consulate

Valmet was proud to host a ceremony on October 30 celebrating the inauguration of the new Finnish Honorary Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia. The newly appointed Honorary Consul, Kari Lindberg, is a Valmet Executive Alumnus and former Senior Vice President, Services, North America.
The Honorary Consulate of Finland in Atlanta serves the State of Georgia and plays an important role in strengthening ties between Finland and the southeastern United States. Its mission includes:
- Promoting economic, cultural, and business relationships between Finland and Georgia.
- Supporting Finnish citizens temporarily abroad with consular guidance and assistance.
- Helping connect individuals with local authorities or the nearest Finnish embassy or consulate.
- Providing select notarized certifications.

The ceremony brought together distinguished guests, including Jarmo Sareva, Consul General and Ambassador at the Consulate General of Finland in New York, John Saunders, former Honorary Consul of Finland for Georgia and Board Member of the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast (FACCSE), and TAPPI’s incoming President & CEO, Lawton C. Roberts.
Valmet’s Ari Naukkarinen, Director, Improvement Projects and Roll Services, North America, joined Bertrand Lapoire, Economic Development Manager for the City of Peachtree Corners, and Mark Farmer, Deputy Division Director of Gwinnett County, in sharing remarks on the deepening partnership between Finland and Georgia. The event also included an official proclamation recognizing Kari Lindberg’s appointment.
TAPPI and Valmet congratulate Kari Lindberg on this meaningful appointment and extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this special occasion - a milestone for both the pulp & paper industry and the Finnish community in Georgia.
