Are you looking to get involved with TAPPI but not sure where to start? We are excited to share a low-stakes, high reward opportunity for young professionals, where you will have a way to pair with seasoned volunteers to make an impact on TAPPICon®️ 2026.
TAPPI’s Young Professionals (YP) Division is partnering with several other Divisions to create an opportunity for YPs to become involved on the technical content side of a conference experience, as a session co-chair for TAPPICon, April 26-29, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio.
This is an easy way to add volunteer experience to your resume and LinkedIn profile while expanding your technical knowledge, meeting new people, and delving into a side of TAPPI that you’ve likely never seen before.
Divisions Seeking Co-Chairs Include:
- Advanced Renewable Materials
- Coating, Printing & Surface Enhancement
- Engineering
- Nonwovens, Engineers & Technologists (NET)
- Paper & Board
- PIMA Management
- Pulp Manufacture
- Tissue
What's Required?
Prior to TAPPICon:
- Overseeing the details of a group of 3-4 presentations set to be given during a session at TAPPICon
- Communicating with your speakers as you move through the planning process of reviewing their abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations for compliance with TAPPI’s guidelines
- Ensuring materials are submitted to TAPPI by the deadlines required
During TAPPICon:
- Check in with your speakers during the Speaker Breakfast the morning of the session
- Introduce them during the session
- Field questions from the attendees
Don’t worry, you won’t be in this alone! An experienced co-chair will support and mentor you through this process.
Time required will be a maximum of one hour per week, as well as attendance at TAPPICon for your session. Discounted registration is available for session chairs.
This is a great opportunity to become more involved in TAPPI and assist with the inner workings of what makes this organization function. It's an excellent first step with a low time commitment and maximum return on your time invested.
