Impermea Materials, the advanced materials division of DetraPel, Inc., and INX International Ink Co. announced an exclusive strategic partnership to accelerate the commercialization of PFAS-free, high-performance barrier coatings for packaging.
This collaboration combines INX’s deep technical expertise and global reach with Impermea Materials’ proprietary technology platform. As the exclusive distributor of Impermea’s OLEO-PAK 4100 for the print and packaging market, INX will help bring this breakthrough solution to converters worldwide. Together, the companies are delivering a scalable, drop-in coating that meets the growing demand of sustainability without sacrificing performance.
“As regulators turn up the pressure on plastic and forever chemicals, the packaging industry is at a critical inflection point,” said David Zamarin, CEO and Founder of Impermea Materials. “Our partnership with INX allows us to move faster and reach farther, bringing truly polyethylene-free, PFAS-free packaging to the global market at scale.”
The collaboration arrives as global legislation around plastic and PFAS chemicals tightens and brands seek recyclable, compostable, and FDA-compliant alternatives to conventional polyethylene and fluorine-based barriers. Impermea’s technologies offer exceptional oil and grease resistance, water vapor control, and food-safe performance, without relying on harmful chemistries such as PFAS or excessive material usage. OLEO-PAK 4100 is also compliant with Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 and FDA Conditions A-J.
“This partnership represents the natural evolution of our investment in DetraPel and our shared vision for sustainable innovation,” said Bryce Kristo, President and CEO of INX International. “By combining INX’s manufacturing scale and global network with Impermea’s next-generation chemistry, we are positioned to redefine what’s possible in sustainable packaging.”
This strategic agreement builds on INX’s 2023 venture investment in DetraPel, Inc., and creates new opportunities for operational collaboration. Joint pilot programs will begin rolling out by the end of 2025, targeting food service applications before expanding to broader commercial uses.
As market pressure for safer, more sustainable materials accelerates, the Impermea-INX partnership is poised to set a new standard for performance and responsibility in packaging.
