Since starting my business in 1998, I have given several pro bono, which is a fancy Latin term meaning "for free," presentations on leadership, teamwork, innovation, and branding to certain types of not-for-profit organizations, including American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Deaconess Foundation, and Incarnate Word Foundation. Any time I’ve been asked to speak for free to not-for-profit organizations who have a great mission and little to no money for professional development, I have said yes.

By accident – a happy accident.

Kathleen tells me she got into MPI Potomac Chapter by accident. Working as a temp for IBM, she planned small customer meetings, trainings and receptions. After a couple of weeks, her marvelous supervisor noted, "You’re very good at this! You should look into a professional association – they have them for everything." She ended up hearing about MPI through a colleague and joined.
