Community Outreach Committee update

April showers rained down TWO impactful opportunities for the Community Outreach Committee to support our local community.

At the beginning of the month, three MPI Potomac members (and a friend) met bright and early on the National Mall to volunteer as balloon handlers for the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. Here’s what member Natalie Deriu said about her experience:

“It was a fun-filled event where we had the opportunity to spend time outside of the corporate world and share the experience together. We shared many laughs, stories and worked together to do our part in the parade. Our group was responsible for carrying the Cherry Blossom balloons. As you can see in the picture, they were huge! It really took a village to keep them from floating away! I am so glad I participated, and got to see the work of the parade behind the scenes and created new memories with the MPI Potomac team.”

Later in the month at ReConEx, the team organized a toiletry kit-packing activation to support Promise Place, an emergency youth shelter in Prince George’s County. Thanks to the generous donations from The Hotel at The University of Maryland, the Hilton Garden Inn Reagan National Airport, the Thompson Washington D.C., and VRS Meetings & Events, attendees assembled and delivered over 200 kits filled with items like shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes and hand sanitizer.

Thanks to all that took the time to give back to the community as part of these activities!
