MPI Potomac: Fall Preview, Tammy Kockaya, CMP, CMM President, MPI Potomac

Wow! Summer Sizzle was truly An Affair to Remember with nearly 170 participants, including 48 future MPI members. The results from our committee and volunteer fair are our best yet — 60 participants signed up to be a part of one of our 10 committees! A huge thanks to our Member Engagement and Business Development Committees for their collaboration on the success of our first event of the new chapter year. With this issue of FYI we’re introducing a new feature called "Committee Spotlight" where we will present the tremendous work of one of our committees each month to provide you with the inside scoop on how each supports the success of MPI Potomac. Michelle Coombs with San Diego Tourism Authority and our Board Director for Member Retention are kicking off this new feature.

Speaking of inside scoops, our very own Doug Sandler (MPI Potomac Rising Star for 2015-2016), or "The Nice Guy" as you may know him, provided all of us some sleuthing fun at Summer Sizzle! If you missed it, the password is scandal...shhh! Check out Doug’s latest article, "Life Happens Right Now," and learn a few strategies for participating fully in the present moment and staying focused.

Finally, we’ve got some terrific events lined up for our members and future members to help us stay focused on our professional development with the summer sun rising later and setting earlier as we move into fall.

Our first After-Hours event will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Woodward Table. No registration is required and all are welcome — both members and future members. Celebrate almost-TGIF with MPI Potomac board leadership!

We kick off our Educational Experiences (e²) for this chapter year on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Marriott Wardman Park featuring Janine Driver and then again on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Holiday Inn Capital with Jim Spellos. Thanks for our generous sponsorship with the Las Vegas CVA, our e² events are complimentary for any MPI Potomac member planners.

Stay tuned for the date and venue announcement of our annual fall partnership event with the PCMA Capital Chapter...this one promises to be our best event yet!

So as we anticipate apple cider and falling leaves, and back-to-school is over-shadowed by the anticipation of trick-or-treating, be sure to make time for your own professional networking and development. We hope to see you at one our upcoming events this fall!
