ST. JOSEPH, MICH. — The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has completed a project to adopt nationally an international standard, ISO 10448:1994.

The new standard, ANSI/ASABE AD10448:1994, Agricultural tractors – Hydraulic pressure for implements, replaces the withdrawn ASABE standard ASAE S489, Hydraulic Pressure Available on Agricultural Tractors for Remote Use with Implements.

Industry sales down 9 percent in November!

✔✔ Ag equipment dealers reported sales were down 9 percent year-over-year on average in
November.
✔✔ AGCO dealers once again reported the strongest sales growth of up 5 percent year-over
year on average, while Case IH dealers reported the largest declines at down 14 percent.
✔✔ A net 18 percent of dealers reported sales were below plan this month, slightly worse
than the net 5 percent missing plan over the past two months.
✔✔ A net 34 percent of dealers categorize their new equipment inventory as "too high"
(42 percent too high; 50 percent about right; 8 percent too low), down from the net 42 percent last month.
✔✔ A net 41 percent of dealers reported used equipment inventories were "too high" in
November, compared to a net 46 percent the previous month.
✔✔ Incoming orders declined 16 percent year-over-year on average in November, which compares
to the 15 percent average declines in October.

The company achieved the third highest level in sales history. Revenues for the year were $325.5 million, surpassed only by the records set in 2012 and 2013. Demand for tractors, particularly the DeltaTrack units, continues to be strong. However, as anticipated, the decline in commodity prices has resulted in a reduction in sales.

• Over the past 40 years, from 1971 to 2011, farm area in Canada has declined (-6 percent) from 68.7 million hectares to 64.8 million hectares. The loss of 3.9 million hectares of farm area is equal to an area approximately the size of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

• Canada has more than 50.5 million hectares of dependable agricultural land. Most of this dependable agricultural land is found in the Prairies and Boreal Plains ecozones. Farm area located on dependable agricultural land has declined by 969,802 hectares more recently from 2001 to 2011.
