Dr. Rumeet Billan is an award-winning, internationally recognized entrepreneur, researcher, speaker, and expert on psychological capital. Her mission is to transform workplace cultures through research, training, and experiences that enable trust, foster belonging, and build resilience. Dr. Billan completed her PhD at the University of Toronto, and has designed and facilitated programs, courses, and training sessions across industries and sectors. Dr. Billan has been named Canada’s Top 100 Health Leaders in 2021, Canada’s Top 10 Power Women, and was twice named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. She is a regular guest on top radio and television morning shows, and has been featured in Forbes, The Globe and Mail, National Post, and more. Since 2004, she has contributed to social impact initiatives that improve access to and the quality of education in North America, South America, and Africa. Recently, Dr. Billan made a donation of more than 280,000 brand-new books from various publishers and authors to be distributed to children and youth in need. Your organization logo and website link will be featured on the conference webpage, shared in a looped presentation throughout the day of the conference, shared in one weekly OSCA News, shared in the winter edition of our OSCA Today magazine (delivered to 1,300 members) and added to our OSCA/ACOSO website for one year. These perks are complimentary to our returning exhibitors from our 2021 conference. A nominal fee of $100 will be required for any new exhibitors.

Post Secondary Information Ontario’s universities are excited to host a collection of in-person and virtual events in fall 2022, where students can speak directly with university and student representatives.

 Planning for the next Cannexus, Canada’s Career Development Conference – to be held January 23-25, 2023 – is now underway. Cannexus23 is expected to be a hybrid conference with a live in-person portion in Ottawa and a virtual portion. CERIC invites individuals or organizations with an interest in presenting at the 17th annual Cannexus to submit a brief session outline for consideration using the Proposal Form. The deadline for proposals is Friday, June 17, 2022.
Education The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing systemic inequities. It’s also presented new hardships for marginalized families and under-resourced communities associated with loss of income, lack of access to social support services, increased care responsibilities and a rise in depression and anxiety.
Learning loss has become a buzz word since the onset of the pandemic, referring to general loss of knowledge and skills due to education disruptions.  When Lilly Faust graduated from college in December, she was fortunate to land a job right away.
She also managed to move out on her own, with a roommate, into an apartment in Montclair, New Jersey. "I feel very proud of myself," said Faust, 22, who is now a first-grade teacher in New Jersey. "I was that broke college kid who was just trying to make ends meet," she added. "It feels really good to have my own money coming in and being able to support myself."  The Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention is conducting a survey for our project Investigating the Role of School Professionals in the Prevention of Social Polarization and Violent Radicalization. As such, we are reaching out to see if you can share this invitation with any Canadian school professionals within your networks OR if you are a Canadian school professional and are interested in completing our survey. See below for additional details on the project, as well as the participants we are seeking for the survey and focus groups.

The Ontario School Counsellors' Association offers Additional Qualification Courses in Guidance and Career Education Parts I, II and Specialist (Part III) in Winter, Spring and Summer and Fall. OSCA's online, interactive courses are user friendly and allow real-time practice of the skills needed for the effective Guidance Teacher-Counsellor. We have a virtual classroom where we meet in real time to practice counselling skills, listen to guest speakers, and watch videos. This feature is very popular and it really makes OSCA's AQ experience prominent.
