Contact CPA Ontario’s high school recruitment team to get access to:

  • A resource package which includes resources for you, your guidance office, and students
    regarding the CPA designation (handout and posters)
  • Knowledge on the CPA designation to advise students on the career opportunities available with
    the designation
  • Join the FREE Teacher Colleague Program (TCP)  to get access to exclusive classroom resources
    available through our online portal, including case studies which can be used in your classrooms
    to develop students’ problem solving skills, and the ability to request classroom workshops from
    the student recruitment team

Get your students involved through our High School Ambassador Program (HAP) to help them develop
their transferable skills by:

  • Getting access to career development resources through our HUBS articles
  • Competing in contests such us InstaChallenge, Write to Ignite, and Showcase, for chances to win
    prizes
  • Attending events where students can meet CPAs, network, learn of the various professions and
    industries that CPAs work in

The automotive industry in Canada is one of the largest with 1-7 jobs tied directly or indirectly. That’s more than 700,000 jobs across Canada, and they pay well. We speak with new students all the time that are unaware of the career opportunities and where they exist. So we wanted to provide you with a breakdown that can help guide young people with their options in the automotive industry in Canada

Vehicle manufacturers produce and sell over 2 million vehicles each year, employing over 130,000 people. They have corporate head offices around the Greater Toronto Area, with some presence across the country to work with their dealerships.

There are over 3,200 new vehicle dealerships across the country employing over 140,000 people.
Everyone is aware of careers in sales or auto technician but many are not aware that dealerships offer a
variety of high-paying careers in every corner of the country.


The Aftermarket industry in the largest sector for employment, employing over 400,000 people. They
consist of parts and accessories manufacturers, distributors, and service/retail centres. There is a lot of
entrepreneurial opportunity to work across the country.


The automotive industry is going through a major transformation with huge technological
advancements. We are seeing the rise in vehicle automation, connected vehicles, electrification, and
shared vehicle ownership models. There are great career options throughout the country for those that
have a passion for cars or want to work in an evolving and exciting industry. For more information,

AgScape Teacher Ambassadors offer FREE classroom lessons for students in Grades 7 – 12. All Teacher Ambassadors are Ontario-certified teachers trained in agriculture education. They teach students about the career opportunities in agriculture and food through interactive, engaging programs aligned with the Ontario curriculum. History
The Award of Merit was first presented in the spring of 1972. In 1977 the OSCA Board of Directors passed a resolution to rename this award The Olive Diefenbaker Award of Merit to honour the late Mrs. Diefenbaker''s contribution to Guidance and Counselling in the Province of Ontario. The first awards were presented by her daughter during the 1977 Annual Conference at Niagara Falls in November. The citation on The Olive Diefenbaker Award of Merit reads: "In recognition of long and dedicated service to guidance and counselling in the Province of Ontario"

This award is to recognize retiring individuals who have made a contribution to the Counselling and Guidance Profession in Ontario

Criteria
This award may be presented to teacher-counsellors, teachers, administrators, trustees and/or members of the community

An OSCA member must nominate the retiree

The nominee should:

  • Be retiring
  • Have been involved in Guidance and Career Education in Ontario for a minimum of five years.
  • Have demonstrated leadership in guidance through active participation in professional development, counsellor education, administrative support, promotion of guidance, professional writing, research, or in contributing to professional guidance and counselling organizations.

The awards will be mailed to the nominator for presentation by the nominator or by another OSCA member appointed by the nominator. These awards are often presented at retirement functions rather than the Awards Banquet. However, the names of the recipients of The Olive Diefenbaker Awards may be noted in the official program of the OSCA Conference.

Procedure

  • Nominations for this award must be submitted by an OSCA member
  • Nominations should be received six weeks in advance of the presentation date in order for sufficient timing for certificate arrival .
