The Bill 7 Award is a prestigious recognition celebrating outstanding 2SLGBTQI scholars in Ontario. Established in honour of Ontario's Bill 7 (1986), which added sexual orientation to the Ontario Human Rights Code, these awards financially support individuals in post-secondary education to uphold the equality and inclusion intended by the bill.

Purpose
Presented by the Bill 7 Award Trust, the annual ceremony honours students committed to their studies by alleviating financial burdens, helping them achieve their educational goals, and amplifying their positive influence in the community.

The Trust relies heavily on annual donations, with the awards ceremony also serving as a fundraiser for supporting scholarships. By attending or donating, supporters help sustain vital resources for marginalized communities. This year's ceremony promises inspiring stories, networking opportunities, and a chance to unite for equality. Join us in commemorating Canada's 2SLGBTQI trailblazers while empowering the next generation of change-makers.

Why, the most urgent labour market problem might not be a shortage at all.

For decades, we’ve been talking about skills shortages.

Every few years, a new wave of urgency hits amid headlines warning of a widening gap between what workers offer and what employers need. And every time, the solutions sound familiar: upskilling, better training pipelines, and improved career mobility.

But after six years of working in labour market research and workforce development, I’ve started to ask a different question:

Are we diagnosing the right problem?

Forecasting Skills Supply: A Career Pathways Approach | June 25, 2025 | 1-2:30 p.m. EST | Virtual Event

Traditional labour market forecasts often focus only on the skills tied to a worker’s current occupation. But workers bring with them a wide range of skills from previous jobs, education, and life experiences.

The Conference Board of Canada, in collaboration with the Future Skills Centre, is developing a new skill forecasting model that better captures these broader career pathways. We are inviting career development professionals to help validate and improve this model through a one-hour focus group session.
